Frequently asked questions
What camera do you use?
Depends. I use an X5, Insta360 pro2 and Insta360ONE-R
These days I recommend the X5 for most projects. But if you are a person of finer tastes, the Pro2 has got you covered.
How many megapixels?
Don't be fooled by marketing jargon. Your website hosts typically only takes up to 4k (sometimes 8) for a full VR experience. Higher resolutions only cause lag.
Just to be clear the X5 shoots up to 72 Megapixels, and the pro2 only goes to 12. But the quality difference is of a solid 12 is remarkable.
What can you do for the shot?
At a base line, I clean up the photos and remove any unwanted error and send them back to the client for use.
(No special editing and removal of tripod legs etc)
But for the lovers of finer tastes,
I digitally sweep the floor, remove unwanted elements, boost colours. Sometimes add logos sometimes remove logos. Most of the time I shoot multiple shots and compound HDR images. Notice that non of my shots have cameras within the reflections, or any tripods and weird shadows.
So do you shoot just the shots or create the whole tour experience?
That depends on your needs. If you require heavy interactive elements, I have a digital partner. Other wise basic tours are done by me.
Do you do 360 video as well?
Yeap, we've shot for VR/AR training, visual effects and event covers. We can even do a live streaming event if you are open to the idea.
Why not Metapod?
Metapod is great! But it's limited as well in its point cloud tech. Most of my 90+ virtual tours have outdoor spaces and my existing clients prefer higher resolution quality images rather than Metapods' small 3D room. But hey. hit me up. I'm sure we can figure something out.
