Can we fly without an Activity Permit?

It depends. You are not required to apply for an activity permit if its purely recreational. But even if you rent the drone from me to fly recreationally, there is money involved and an activity permit is needed.

Why do you charge $300 for an Activity Permit?

Each application is SGD $120.
But you need a $600 operator permit to apply, along with admin fees etc. If it is to apply under another drone outside of the Mavic 3 Pro that I own, every additional drone costs $500 paid directly to CAAS.

Can la... we just find a clear zone and risk it.

Please don't. The maximum penalties are $50,000 and 2 years jail for a first offence. That's worse then knocking some one down with a car. Information is readily googlable.

What's your experience like?

I've actually been flying drones since before the laws were in place and have shot in the mountains of Taiwan, Philipines, Bali, Malaysia and Singapore. These days the rules are getting stricter globally so feel free to ask me if you have any questions about flying in the region.
